Meet Professor Herby
Follow the links below for sample curriculum for the KIDS Lab products.
My name is Rich Herbst. I am a retired Technology & Engineering instructor, having taught at Jefferson Middle School in Jefferson, Wisconsin for 37 years. I introduced the Technology and Engineering Program at Jefferson in 1986. The change from woodworking to various Engineering activities was an exciting challenge for the students. They were eager to learn by working together as teams, using newly introduced processes such as creative thinking and problem solving.
The highlight of my teaching career was establishing our Space Shuttle program. The students built a 16 ft. x 30 ft. space shuttle for our missions. It was a school-wide interdisciplinary unit involving all the teachers. Parents and the community even became involved, working in Mission Control and monitoring the student activities during their 2-night/3-day missions. We had great success with our missions for over 8 years.
Currently, I have been working as an onsite teacher-trainer for the new Kids Lab STEAM program for K-5 grade level instructors. KIDS Lab is designed to enhance your curriculum, bringing creative thinking, problem-solving, designing, robotics, and engineering to your classroom. The training will guide you thru the basics with hands-on learning sessions for the 3D printing, electronics and engineering lessons. It will include hints for successfully implementing this program into your everyday activities. As Professor Herby, I am also planning to present weekly tips, instructional videos, testimonials, and more on the KIDS Lab website. I’m here to answer questions and assist you with any issues.
When I am not working with KIDS Lab training, I’m enjoying my retirement with my lovely wife, and our three sons and their families, including 4 beautiful granddaughters. We love to camp, play golf, and I even get some time to hunt and fish.
Please feel free to contact me thru the KIDS Lab website anytime! I look forward to getting to know you.
